The Opportunity – Art Director (Mid-weight)

The Art Director will think differently to a traditional advertising creative, with a focus on storytelling across multiple channels with a big focus on earned. Our work reflects the new ways audiences cultivate their passions, consume media and share stories by delivering integrated communications campaigns including but not limited to sponsorship, brand partnerships, experiential, PR, social and content.

You’ll have an equally brilliant team of PR and Partnership specialists to collaborate with, plus Talent and Influencer experts who know which names are the best to partner with in order to authentically reach a variety of audiences.

The key difference is knowing how to come up with a PR idea, not just how to PR an advertising idea.

You’ll understand how to create experiences for the consumer’s of our clients brands who also happen to be sports and entertainment fans. You’ll help our brands touch the fans’ hearts via creating change and impact in the world of music, fashion, football, cricket, surfing, netball etc, be it through experiential events, social media campaigns, online activations or press exclusives.

A snapshot of what you’ll do –
  • Storytelling and Content Creation:
    • Develop creative visual concepts and storylines that effectively convey the campaign ideas, brand’s values, mission, and key messages.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and ideate innovative content and activation ideas for brand promotion.
    • Create storyboards and visual treatments for shoots.
  • Experiential and Events:
    • Collaborate with the experiential production team to develop engaging and immersive brand experiences that are feasible and within budget from a build perspective. Create moodboards for events and understand how to collaborate with influencers or talent in order to maximise the experience for the audience.
  • Partner with all Sport & Entertainment team members to help identify possibilities for creative solutions that connect consumers with clients’ brands in personal and memorable ways
  • Directly contribute to new business pitches for the Agency, and across the group.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the creative process to deliver world-class, award-winning work, specialising in Social Content and Earned Media, on behalf of group clients.
  • Have a good idea of campaign and production costs so as to concept realistic ideas within client budgets
  • Drive brilliance in ideas, craft and strategy across all channel touchpoints
  • As an Art Director, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing visually compelling campaigns across a range of channels including but not limited to events and activations, social content, digital assets, influencer and talent channels, etc.
  • The assets you create will effectively promote our client’s brands, engage their target audience, and drive business objectives. Your keen eye for design, visual storytelling and deep understanding of various marketing specialisms will play a pivotal role in ensuring our marketing efforts make a lasting impact.

  • A people person, with the ability to inspire members across the Agency and broader Group to rally behind creative opportunities
  • Excellent verbal communication skills – a confident, persuasive presenter
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of clients, management and staff
  • Methodical, organised with high attention to craft
  • Experience of working seamlessly with people outside of Creative to deliver non-traditional creative, including but not limited to documentary series, innovative tech, social movement, consumer PR or socially amplified campaigns
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects
Your ideal experience:
  • Degree or diploma in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 6+ years in an Art Director/Conceptual Creative role with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic
  • design and visual storytelling across a broad spectrum of channels including social, events and digital
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
